Planning Commission

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Planning Commission acts as the City Council's recommendation body that includes oversight in the preparation of the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Code and Critical Areas Ordinance.

Planning Commissioners are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. There are seven Planning Commissioners that serve three-year terms. Ther are no term limits for commissioners. 

Chapter 2.40 of the Aberdeen Municipal Code establishes membership criteria and powers.

Meetings

Regular meetings of the Planning Commission occur at 6:00 pm on the third Thursday of every month. Meetings are currently conducted in a hybrid format, with in--person and virtual attendance options.

Regular meetings are held in the City Council meeting room or City Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall and are also available virtually through the Zoom platform. 

Special meetings may occur as needed outside of the regular meeting dates and times. Special meeting information will be posted to the City's webpage. Virtual links to all PC meetings can be found on the City's Calendar.
