Arts Commission
The purpose of Aberdeen’s Arts Commission is to introduce a wide range of quality public art into the community, enhancing the civic environment and enriching the lives of residents and visitors.

City Council
The City of Aberdeen operates under the mayor-council form of government, where policy and administration are separated. All legislative and policy-making powers are vested in the city council. The administrative authority, including veto power, is vested in the mayor.

Good Neighbors Revolving Loan Fund
The committee was established for the purpose of making loans to private property and business owners to make exterior improvements to commercial buildings and property in the downtown, south side, west side, and East Aberdeen districts.

Historic Preservation Commission
Our mission is to safeguard the heritage of the City of Aberdeen as represented by those buildings, districts, objects, sites and structures which reflect significant elements of the City of Aberdeen History.

Homeless Response Committee
The City of Aberdeen created a Homelessness Response Committee that has been tasked with creating a response strategy to the growing homeless issue in Aberdeen. The Committee will initiate community outreach to determine what the community believes is the best plan forward.

Lodging Tax Committee
This fund was created for the purpose of paying all or any part of the cost of acquisition, construction, or operating of stadium facilities, convention center facilities, performing arts center facilities and/or visual arts center facilities, or to pay or secure the payment of all or any portion of general obligation bonds or revenue bonds issued for such purpose or purposes under this chapter or to pay for advertising, publicizing, or otherwise distributing information for the purpose of attracting visitors and encouraging tourist expansion.

Parking & Business Improvement
The purpose of the parking and business improvement district is to aid general economic development and neighborhood revitalization and to facilitate the cooperation of merchants, businesses, and residential property owners in order to assist trade, economic viability, and livability.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission hears all rezone cases that come before the City for approval.

Museum Board
The Board of Museum and History meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd floor of Aberdeen City Hall. You can find information on the Board of Museum and History in the Aberdeen Municipal Code, section 2.64. Park Board
The Aberdeen Park Board meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Aberdeen City Hall. More information on the role of the Park Board can be found in the Aberdeen Municipal Code 2.60.

Library Board
The Aberdeen library board is created to provide advisory guidance to the mayor and city council in the establishment of goals and activities related to public library services in the city of Aberdeen and to assist the mayor, city council, and library patrons in evaluating the Timberland Regional Library District’s operation of the Aberdeen Timberland Library and use of the city’s library facilities. The board may solicit and accept monies dedicated to library activities and operations on behalf of the city and may provide assistance to private foundations and other trustees of funds dedicated to Aberdeen library services by reviewing proposals and recommending appropriate uses of the funds. The board is encouraged to establish a close working relationship with the Timberland Regional Library District and the Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library.
