
Purpose
The Stormwater Utility is operated and maintained by one Stormwater employee with assistance from Street Department personnel.
The storm drainage infrastructure consists of:
- Catch basins
- Dikes
- Drainage ditches
- Inlets
- Pumps
- Storm drain lines
- Tide gates
The Stormwater Department maintains 21.2 miles of open ditches, around 8 miles of culverts, 5 miles of flood dikes and also 17 storm water pump stations spread out across the city.

Stormwater Management action plan (SMAP)
The City is in the process of developing a stormwater management action plan for the catchment area of Fry Creek as required through the City's NPDES permit from Ecology. The goal of this plan is to identify management practices to improve the water quality and reduce flooding of Fry Creek.
