Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator In Training, Operator I or Operator II

Salary Range: Operator-in-Training (Range 13): $3,364-4,087/mo.
Plant Operator I (Range 16): $3,902-4,742/mo.
Plant Operator II (Range 18): $4,299-5,226/mo.

Position Summary: The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators perform plant and equipment training, operations, and maintenance duties in a secondary activated sludge treatment plant and related installations. Higher paid job classifications have additional responsibilities for work including repair and coordination of plant operations.

Requirements: The following are the minimum requirements that must be met to be considered for the position of Operator-in-Training. HS graduate or GED, valid driver’s license with no serious or frequent violations, current first aid/CPR certification and possession of or ability to obtain Washington state Operator-in-Training (OIT) Certification within 6 months of employment, Washington state Group 1certification Wastewater Operator Certification within 18 months of employment. Operator I includes 2 years’ Experience in a Wastewater Treatment Plant and be able to obtain Group II Certificate within 18 months of hire or reclassification.
Operator II includes 4 years’ experience in wastewater plant operation and maintenance, of which 2 years is in the operation of an activated sludge wastewater treatment plant and Washington State Wastewater Certificate Group II.
