City of Aberdeen Community Development

The objective of the Department is the day-to-day administration of the City’s land use regulations, which focus on public information services, building permit review of conformance with zoning regulations, environmental policy review for all public and private sector projects, including critical areas and land use permit processing.

This Department pursues loan and grant opportunities from both federal and state-sponsored programs. The City acts as both a direct recipient of funding or as a pass-through agency for business.

Community Development monitors several grant and loan programs including, but not limited to:

  • Community Development Block Grant
  • Urban Development Action Grant
  • Good Neighbors Revolving Loan Fund
  • Brownfield Redevelopment Program
